Special visitors to the Beacon

On Thursday 5th June, Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip visited Whitehaven in celebration of the 300th Anniversary of Whitehaven harbour and the re-opening of the newly refurbished Beacon.

Crowds of over 8,000 gathered along the harbourside to welcome the Royal visitors.

Tall ship the Zebu graced the harbour in celebration of the event, and small sailing boats were decked in red white and blue. Local business owners also adorned their shops with patriotic buntings and flags.
