Full Archaeological Survey Completed
A comprehensive archaeological survey of the Whitehaven Coast, commissioned by the National Trust and carried out by Cranstone Consultants in 2006 / 2007 is now completed and available to be viewed.
The survey is a major piece of work, drawing together existing reference sources and new research and is published in three volumes; a report, a gazeteer and a collection of maps.Volume I - Report
Due to its size and the number of photos it contains, it is not possibe to host the report in its original PDF format. The version held on the website is a 'text only' version. The map and plan section is organised into 4 seperate map tiles of the Whitehaven Coast area, these map tiles A - D are shown on the overall map below. Please click on the map to view it at a larger scale.

- current Ordnance Survey map showing location of Gazeteer references
- 1st edition OS 25" survey
- 2nd edition OS 25" survey
- 3rd edition OS 25" survey
