Millennium Green Celebration

During the summer months the communities of South Whitehaven have traditionally ran schemes for young people to access a range of recreational and creative activity. This year we used some of the Cleaner, Greener, Safer Communities funding to trial arts activities as part of these summer events.

We worked in partnership with the National Trust and The Woodhouse Family Advice Centre to deliver an art and play event on The Millennium Green in Woodhouse.

We trialled musical sculpture, drumming, screen printing, and beach combing sculpture alongside a range of arts and crafts activities.

The workshop leaders were then asked to prepare proposals on how to continue the work in the community.

chimesFrom the trial workshops we identified a programme of activity to continue to be delivered on the estate and planned a major alfresco summer exhibition to be held on the Millennium Green in Summer 2007.
