Greenbank youth theatre gets its voice heard

TheatreGroup

In partnership with the Greenbank Community Association in 2006 we offered a range of arts activities to young people who attended the Greenbank Community Summer Scheme. The most successful workshop was a drama based activity delivered by Jeff Cook of New Directions, Theatre by the Lake.

Young people asked if there was any way we could provide a regular programme and Jeff agreed to lead a series of workshops which would deliver theatre skills and identify a motivated youth theatre group.

shoutInitially the sessions took place in the Greenbank club and were energetic and physical in nature but over four weeks an affiliated and more focussed theatre group were identified and developed.

The sessions were then closed to new participants and moved to the Beacon to create a piece of theatre for the Theatre by the Lakes Laal Fest (Festival of Youth Theatre.)

This performance was on 22nd December 2006 and the group are planning to expand their cohort by delivering more workshops on the Greenbank Estate in the future.
